In a season where Craig has lead most of the way, his championship was not just in the bag yet. His horrific crash at Calder (another Jason Bright prang) cut his season short and forced him to sit out the Tassie race in which Cameron Mconville filled in for him. Returning in his old VS commodore was never going to be easy so Holden bought him and teammate Mark Skaife brand new VT's and since then they have never looked back. Craig finished strongly at Queensland with Mconville and needs another good finish at Bathurst to win the championship over Russel Ingall who is making a late charge.
